How to Keep Students Returning to Your Studio Year After Year

If you’re a dance studio owner, the number one business question you probably grapple with on a daily basis is how to maximize RETENTION.

How can I keep my students coming back month after month, year after year?!

It’s a question I get asked often.

My experience over the years has taught me a few things about retention, which I’m happy to share with you:

  1. Love your students – if you’re not in it for the kids, you’re probably in the wrong business! I make it a point to learn my students’ names, interests and develop a personal relationship with them as much as possible. I love chatting with students and parents before and after class and I know this helps to build a connection.
  1. Develop and maintain a positive environment – if your students love coming to class because they feel supported, valued and inspired you can be sure that they’ll ask their parents if they can return year after year.
  1. Be unique – with lots of dance studios out there, doing something different and creative will set you apart from the crowd. With word of mouth being a huge driver of business (especially in the world of social media!), if you can develop a reputation for being special, your battle is more than halfway won!

Happy dancing!
